Department of Fisheries Enhances Smart Aquaculture with Skill Initiatives Through PMMSY
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, specifically the Department of Fisheries, is advancing the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) goals by launching comprehensive capacity development initiatives and modern trainings. The program strategy includes varied innovative techniques and educational programmes aimed at elevating the fisheries value chain, expanding productivity, and creating market linkages. This is part of a wider vision, Viksit Bharat 2047, as it charts a plan for the fisheries sector growth. A total of 499 skill-building sessions, engaging over 22,000 stakeholders, were successfully conducted alongside a significant allocation of Rs. 2.93 crore to bolster this initiative. It is seen as a significant step towards ensuring food security and boosting socio-economic development.
