Desilting of Water Bodies Under PMKSY-HKKP
The Government of India is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (PMKSY) with a focus on desilting water bodies as part of the Repair, Renovation, and Restoration (RRR) scheme. A total of Rs. 545.35 crore has been allocated to various states, restoring irrigation potential of 1.20 lakh hectares and reviving 191 million cubic meters of water storage capacity. Additionally, the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (DRIP) aims to enhance dam safety and efficiency, with provisions for need-based de-siltation. The program is co-financed by the World Bank and AIIB, with a completion target of March 2031.
