Detailed Climate Records from Tamil Nadu's Kondagai Lake Could Bolster Conservation Efforts

A recent study has highlighted one of the most comprehensive climate records from South India by excavating sediment from Kondagai Lake in Tamil Nadu. This research, led by the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences and published in "Holocene," reconstructed 4,500 years of climate variations using isotope analysis, pollen studies, and more. It links past climate phases to monsoon variability and human activities. Findings could improve monsoon prediction models and support water resource management, archaeological insights, and biodiversity conservation.
