Development of Pashmina Wool in Ladakh

The Government of India, through the Central Wool Development Board, is implementing the Integrated Wool Development Programme (IWDP) from 2021-22 to 2025-26 to enhance the wool sector, particularly focusing on Pashmina wool development in the Ladakh region. A total of Rs. 18.56 crore has been allocated, with Rs. 14.46 crore utilized for various projects supporting Pashmina nomads, including the procurement of wool, distribution of portable tents, and construction of predator-proof corrals. Additional support includes the provision of handloom tools and a de-hairing plant.
