Development Schemes for Tribal Communities in Bihar
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is implementing various socio-economic development schemes for tribal communities, including the National Handicraft Development Programme and the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission. These initiatives support artisans, particularly from the Tharu community in Bihar, by providing marketing opportunities, skill development, and infrastructure support. Notably, 646 Pahchan Identity Cards have been issued to artisans in West Champaran, enabling them to sell their products through various platforms. Additionally, the Government of Bihar has constructed facilities to promote self-employment and connected over 77,000 families through self-help groups for livelihood activities.
