Digital India Expands: Strengthening Digital Inclusion in SC/ST Areas

The Government of India has launched initiatives to enhance digital inclusion in Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) areas through the establishment of Common Services Centres (CSCs), the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA), and the BharatNet program. As of now, 2.92 lakh CSCs have been set up, with 10% managed by women. PMGDISHA has trained 6.39 crore individuals, including significant numbers from SC, ST, and OBC communities. The BharatNet program has made over 2.14 lakh gram panchayats service-ready with high-speed broadband, expanding 4G connectivity to approximately 40,000 villages.
