DoT Extends Pro Tem Certificate Validity to Two Years

The Department of Telecommunications, under the Indian Ministry of Communications, has extended the validity of the Pro Tem Security Certification from 6 months to 2 years. This decision, made by the National Centre for Communication Security (NCCS), aims to improve the ease of doing business and ensure seamless business continuity in the telecom and ICT sectors. Introduced in October 2024, the Pro Tem Certificate allows OEMs to declare compliance with security standards while their equipment undergoes testing. The extension covers various telecom products, including 5G Core SMF, and aims to reduce the burden of frequent renewals. Additionally, in July 2025, DoT announced a significant reduction in security testing fees for telecom products, highlighting its commitment to facilitating domestic and international businesses.
