Drone Technology Enhances Shrimp Culture and Monitoring in India

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying has initiated research on drone technology for shrimp culture, including water sampling, feed distribution, and health monitoring. A prototype drone is being developed for transporting fish and shrimp, with a 70kg payload capacity. A Technical Committee has been formed to establish Standard Operating Procedures for drone applications in fisheries. The initiative is part of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), promoting technological advancements in the fisheries sector.
