Ecological Restoration of Mined-Out Coal Lands by Ministry of Coal

The Ministry of Coal, through Coal India Limited (CIL), NLC India Limited (NLCIL), and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), has made significant progress in the ecological reclamation of mined-out coal lands over the past five years. A total of 9,156.60 hectares have been reclaimed across various states, with a target of 2,800 hectares for the financial year 2025-26. The initiatives include afforestation, rainwater harvesting, and the rejuvenation of water bodies, aimed at restoring ecological balance and improving local water availability.
