Effectiveness and Utilisation of the e-Shram Portal
The e-Shram portal, launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on August 26, 2021, has registered nearly 31 crore unorganised workers as of August 3, 2025. The portal aims to create a National Database of Unorganised Workers and provide them with a Universal Account Number (UAN). It integrates various social security schemes, allowing workers to access benefits seamlessly. A third-party evaluation by the Quality Council of India is underway to assess its effectiveness. The portal has integrated 14 schemes, including PM-KISAN and Ayushman Bharat, to enhance support for unorganised workers.
