Election Commission Allows Alternative Photo IDs for Voting

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that voters can use one of 12 alternative photo identity documents instead of the Electors' Photo Identity Card (EPIC) to vote. This decision aims to facilitate voter identification and increase participation, especially among women in purdah. The ECI has ensured nearly 100% EPIC issuance in Bihar and has directed timely delivery of EPICs to new voters. The alternative IDs include Aadhaar, PAN, and driving licenses, among others.
