Election Commission Clarifies Voter Deletion Process

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has clarified that no deletion of votes can be done online by the public. In Aland, Karnataka, a significant number of online applications for voter deletion were found to be fraudulent, leading to an FIR against the suspicious attempts. The ECI emphasizes that any deletion requires proper notice and a chance for the affected person to be heard, as per the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960. Similar issues were noted in Rajura, Maharashtra, where many new voter registration applications were also rejected due to invalidity.
