Election Commission Delists 476 RUPPs

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated proceedings to delist another 476 Registered Unrecognized Political Parties (RUPPs) as part of its ongoing effort to clean up the electoral system. This follows the delisting of 334 RUPPs earlier this month, reducing the total number of RUPPs from 2,854 to 2,520. The ECI's strategy aims to ensure that parties that have not contested elections for six consecutive years are removed from the registered list, with show-cause notices being issued to ensure fairness in the process.
