Election Commission Mandates Pre-Certification for Political Advertisements

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming General Election in Bihar and bye-elections in several states. Political parties and candidates are required to obtain pre-certification for all political advertisements from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) before publication. This includes advertisements on social media. Candidates must also disclose their authentic social media accounts during nomination. Additionally, political parties must report their campaign expenditures related to internet advertising within 75 days post-election.
