Empowerment of Women in Cooperatives by Ministry of Cooperation

The Ministry of Cooperation has implemented various initiatives to empower women in the cooperative sector, including mandating women directors on the boards of Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) and Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS). The amendments to the MSCS Act ensure representation of women and Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes in cooperative governance. The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) supports women cooperatives through financial assistance and monitoring of schemes. Over the past three years, significant financial support has been disbursed to women cooperatives, enhancing their role in decision-making and income generation.
