Enhanced Water Quality Testing under Jal Jeevan Mission

The Ministry of Jal Shakti under the Jal Jeevan Mission has developed an online portal, JJM-WQMIS, to facilitate water quality testing across India. As of early 2026, over 2800 water testing labs are operational, with a directive to open these facilities to the public at a nominal fee and encourage public-private partnerships for additional labs. Emphasis is laid on accreditation for reliability and the dissemination of test results to improve awareness and trust in rural water supplies.
