Enhancing Institutional Arbitration in India
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Law and Justice, is promoting institutional arbitration to strengthen Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms. The India International Arbitration Centre (IIAC) established by the 2019 Act has been pivotal in raising awareness and training about institutional arbitration. Several public sector companies, including the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, have adopted IIAC in their dispute resolution clauses. The IIAC conducts regular workshops, debates, and webinars to promote these arbitration practices.
