Enhancing Panchayati Raj Revenue: Digital Measures and Incentives Unveiled

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj in India is taking strategic steps to enhance the Own Source Revenue (OSR) of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) using digital platforms and special awards. An Expert Committee assessed that PRIs collected Rs. 25,595 crores between 2017-18 to 2021-22. The SAMARTH Panchayat portal, an innovative digital solution, has been launched to streamline tax collections, while the Atma Nirbhar Panchayat Special Awards boost Panchayats' initiatives towards self-reliance.
