The Government of India has inaugurated a 15-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme aimed at empowering transgender persons through self-employment. This initiative is part of the SMILE scheme, which focuses on the rehabilitation and economic upliftment of marginalized groups. The program will train 25 transgender candidates at Garima Greh in Delhi, with plans to expand to 18 programs nationwide, targeting 1800 individuals. The training includes business planning, financial aid support, and regulatory compliance, with ongoing support for six months post-training.
