Establishment of Centre of Excellence on PESA at IGNTU

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the Government of Madhya Pradesh and IGNTU, has established a Centre of Excellence on PESA to enhance local self-governance in tribal areas. The initiative aims to strengthen the implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to the Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996, through research, capacity building, and participatory planning. A compendium titled 'PESA in Action' was also launched, showcasing best practices in grassroots governance. The Centre will focus on promoting awareness, building leadership, and supporting tribal self-governance.
