Expansion and Achievements of India's Indigenous PHWR Program

The Department of Atomic Energy announced progress on its indigenous 700 MW Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs), with ten reactors approved for fleet mode development. Three are operational, one is being commissioned, and two are under construction. Achievements include increased power capacity, record high electricity generation, and successful reactor refurbishments. These efforts have also contributed to significant carbon dioxide emission reductions.
