Expansion of Doppler Weather Radar Network in Himachal Pradesh

The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MOES) has deployed 47 Doppler Weather Radars (DWRs) across India, including three specific installations in Himachal Pradesh at Kufri, Jot, and Murari Devi, achieving an 87% national coverage. As part of its 'Mission Mausam,' the ministry aims to enhance India's climate resilience and mitigate extreme weather impacts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) uses the SACHET platform to issue Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) alerts for severe weather, coordinating with various national and international bodies to disseminate alerts to the public through various channels, including SMS and mobile apps.
