Expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) for Tribal Education

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, led by Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Shri Durgadas Uikey, has outlined the guidelines for establishing Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in areas with significant Scheduled Tribes population and adequate tribal population. The scheme aims to provide quality education to tribal students within their native environments. The State Governments are encouraged to accelerate land acquisition for these schools, which require construction periods of up to 30 months depending on the area. Some of the schools continue to operate in temporary facilities pending the completion of permanent campuses.
