Expansion of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in India
As of January 1, 2026, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has sanctioned 723 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) throughout India, providing modern campuses and facilities to support academic and extracurricular activities for tribal students. The schools are designed to accommodate 480 students each, with separate facilities for boys and girls, as well as amenities for staff. Recruitment efforts include the hiring of over 10,000 staff positions, ensuring the smooth functioning of the institutions.
