Expansion of EV Charging Infrastructure on Key Bengaluru Highway Corridors

The Indian Ministry of Heavy Industries has announced the installation of 236 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along four key highway corridors connecting Bengaluru with Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysuru, and Pune. According to the report, the establishments by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) — IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL — include 149 installed units and 87 commissioned units. This infrastructure expansion is part of a broader strategy to accommodate the growing electric vehicle market in India and support zero-emission truck initiatives. The national power grid is prepared to handle the additional demand generated by these stations, further enhancing the readiness of Indian highways for electric vehicles.
