Expansion of Jan Aushadhi Kendras Under Pradhan Mantri Scheme
As of June 30, 2025, a total of 16,912 Jan Aushadhi Kendras (JAKs) have been established under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana scheme, with a target to reach 25,000 by March 2027. The scheme offers 2,110 medicines and 315 surgical products, aiming to provide affordable generic medicines and reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for citizens. The initiative has reportedly saved citizens approximately ₹38,000 crore over 11 years, significantly lowering household health expenditure from 62.6% to 39.4%.
