Expansion of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies
The Government of India has approved a comprehensive plan to strengthen the cooperative movement by establishing 2 lakh new multipurpose PACS, dairy, and fishery cooperatives across all panchayats over five years. This initiative aims to diversify economic activities, enhance operational efficiency through computerization, and provide various services to rural citizens. Key initiatives include the establishment of new cooperatives, decentralized grain storage, and the provision of essential services like banking and healthcare through PACS. The plan also supports the formation of Farmer Producer Organizations and encourages women’s cooperatives and young entrepreneurs.
