Expansion Plans for Electric Vehicle Charging in India
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has outlined the status and expansion plans of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in India. Despite setting up EV charging as an unlicensed activity open to private entrepreneurs, the Ministry has yet to establish specific roadmaps or targets for expansion in the next three years. The FAME-II Scheme has sanctioned significant funds, with notable amounts released and utilized, and an additional allocation under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme awaits fund release for nationwide deployment. Detailed numbers of EV charging stations installed across states are maintained, though Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities' data is not centrally collated.
