The Ministry of Women and Child Development has extended the special registration drive for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) until August 15, 2025. This initiative aims to ensure that all eligible pregnant and lactating women are registered under the scheme, which provides financial assistance to support nutritious diets and improve health-seeking behavior. Since its inception, over 4.05 crore women have benefited from the scheme, receiving maternity benefits totaling ₹19,028 crore through direct benefit transfers. The PMMVY offers cash incentives to compensate for wage loss and promote better maternal and child health outcomes.
