Financial Assistance to Fishing Communities in Kerala

Following the shipwreck of MSC ELSA 3 off the coast of Kochi, Kerala, the government has provided financial assistance to over 105,000 affected fishermen families. Each family received Rs. 1000 and 6 kg of rice to compensate for their livelihood losses. The government has also conducted ecological assessments to ensure the safety of fish and water in the area, with no hazardous chemicals detected. Additionally, projects worth Rs. 13.02 crore have been approved for the installation of artificial reefs to restore fish stocks along the Kerala coast.
