The first centre fuselage assembly for the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk1A was handed over to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) by VEM Technologies in Hyderabad on May 30, 2025. This marks a significant milestone in India's indigenous defence manufacturing, being the first major sub-assembly produced by a private Indian company. The event was attended by key officials, including Secretary (Defence Production) Shri Sanjeev Kumar, who emphasized the importance of domestic manufacturing for national security. HAL plans to enhance production capabilities and has partnered with over 6,300 Indian vendors to support indigenisation efforts in the aerospace sector.
