Fisheries Infrastructure Development in India

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing the 'Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana' (PMMSY) with an investment of Rs. 20,050 crore from 2020-21 to 2025-26. This initiative aims to develop fisheries infrastructure, including fishing harbours, landing centers, and wholesale markets, to promote sustainable fisheries and improve the welfare of fishermen. The PMMSY also supports cold chain logistics and aims to enhance fish and seafood export competitiveness, achieving record exports in 2023-24.
