Good Samaritan Rules: Encouraging Roadside Help in Emergencies

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has emphasized the importance of the Good Samaritan Rules under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, to protect and encourage people who assist accident victims without fear of legal complications. Known as Rah-Veers, these individuals can anonymously help without requiring medical training, helping ensure timely intervention within the ‘Golden Hour’ to save lives. The initiative also offers financial incentives and aims to foster a culture of collective responsibility, addressing India's ongoing challenge with road accidents.
