Government Allocates Rs. 2,000 Crore for EV Charging Infrastructure

The Government of India has launched the PM E-DRIVE scheme with a financial allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore to establish public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country, including in tribal and backward areas. The scheme supports proposals from government bodies, state enterprises, and private players, offering subsidies for related infrastructure and equipment based on location categories. Operational guidelines for the deployment have been issued, facilitating the installation under the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI).
