Government Announces 'Create in India' Challenges to Boost Musical Diversity
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting launched the 'Create in India' Challenges at the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 to support independent and regional music creators. Events like Resonate: The EDM Challenge, Wah Ustad, Battle of the Bands, and Symphony of India saw participation from 86 creators across 13 states, aiming to promote India's musical diversity and provide new economic opportunities. Complementing the challenges is the release of the 'Waves of India' album and showcases featuring regional artists such as the Tetseo Sisters from Nagaland. The government has also established the Live Events Development Cell to foster growth in the creative economy.
