Government Announces MSP for Six Rabi Crops for 2026-27
The Government of India has announced the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for six Rabi crops for the Rabi Marketing Season 2026-27. The crops include Wheat, Barley, Gram, Masur (Lentil), Rapeseed/Mustard, and Safflower, each with varying percent returns over their production costs. The highest return is observed in Wheat at 109%, while Safflower sees a 50% return. The government procurement totaled 310 lakh metric tons for Rabi crops during RMS 2025–26, with an MSP payout of ₹79,267 crores. These measures aim to provide financial benefits to farmers by offering options to sell their produce to government agencies or in open markets.
