Government Approves 25 Lakh Additional LPG Connections Under Ujjwala Scheme

In a significant move towards women empowerment, the Indian government has approved the release of 25 lakh additional LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for the financial year 2025-26. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this initiative on the occasion of Navratri, emphasizing its role in enhancing women's dignity and empowerment. The total number of PMUY connections will now reach 10.58 crore, with an expenditure of ₹676 crore allocated for this expansion. The scheme provides deposit-free LPG connections to eligible women from poor households, aiming to improve health and transform kitchens across the country.
