Government Boosts LNG Use with 100% FDI, New Stations, and Policy Reforms

The Indian government is enhancing the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) by allowing 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) for LNG infrastructure, establishing new LNG stations, and implementing policy reforms. Currently, there are eight operational LNG regasification terminals with a capacity of 52.7 million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA). The government has recognized LNG as a transport fuel and amended regulations to facilitate its use in various sectors, including transport and non-transport applications. This initiative aims to support the growth of a gas-based economy in India.
