Government Designates Two New Repositories Under Biological Diversity Act

The Government of India has designated two institutions, the Referral Centre Bhavasagara at CMLRE, Kochi and MACS Collection of Microorganisms and National Fungal Culture Collection at Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, as official repositories under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. This step, coordinated by the National Biodiversity Authority and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, aims to enhance the conservation and systematic documentation of biological resources, supporting research and supporting the implementation of access and benefit-sharing provisions.
