The Government of India, through the Jal Jeevan Mission and the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), has been actively working to combat groundwater contamination, particularly from Arsenic and Fluoride. Since 2019, the number of affected habitations has significantly decreased due to the implementation of remedial actions and policy initiatives. Enhanced groundwater recharge and balanced fertilizer use are among the recommended measures to mitigate other contaminants like Nitrate.
