Government Enforces Norms to Combat Fake News
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has implemented strict norms for journalistic conduct across print, television, and digital platforms to combat fake news and misinformation. Legal provisions include adherence to the Press Council of India norms for print media, the Programme Code for television, and the IT Rules for digital media. A Fact Check Unit has been established to verify news related to the Central Government. As a result of these measures, 43 OTT platforms have been blocked for spreading fake news and inappropriate content.
