Government Enhances Legal Access for Persons with Disabilities
The Ministry of Law and Justice has implemented significant measures to enhance legal access for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) by providing affordable, quality, and speedy legal services. Key initiatives include free and competent legal aid under the Legal Services Authorities Act of 1987 and training programs to raise awareness of disability needs among judicial members. NJA has integrated sensitization sessions into its programs, while NALSA has developed a training module for lawyers on disability laws. Infrastructure improvements and digital platforms have been upgraded to be disability-friendly under the eCourts Project, demonstrating the government's commitment to accessibility standards.
