Government Enhances SC and OBC Post-Matric Scholarships
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in India has announced enhancements to its Centrally sponsored Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC and OBC students. Implemented from 2021-22, the scheme uses Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to send the central share directly to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked accounts. The release of funds is contingent upon states submitting data to the National Scholarship Portal. The scheme, targeting SCs, OBCs, EBCs, and DNTs, is reviewed consistently at multiple administrative levels to ensure transparent and effective distribution. Scholarships are processed online, addressing technical issues promptly, with the current rates effective until 2025-26, as approved by the Cabinet.
