Government Ensures Price Stability for Key Vegetables Amid Weather Challenges
The Ministry of Consumer Affairs reports that food commodity prices, particularly tomatoes, onions, and potatoes, have remained stable despite a temporary spike in tomato prices in Delhi due to heavy rainfall. The all-India average price of tomatoes is lower than last year, aided by higher production and government buffer stocks. The National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation is actively selling tomatoes at minimal margins to stabilize prices. Overall, food inflation has moderated, with a reported 14% decrease in the cost of a homemade thali in July 2025.
