Government Implements Yarn Subsidy and Tax Reliefs to Boost Textile Exports

The Ministry of Textiles has launched the Raw Material Supply Scheme to make yarn accessible to weavers by providing freight reimbursement and a 15% price subsidy on specified yarns. The government also exempted customs duties on cotton, extended the RoDTEP scheme, introduced GST reforms to enhance domestic demand, and provided export reliefs through the RBI. Despite tariff challenges, handloom exports showed resilience, growing from ₹101.46 crore in September 2024 to ₹110.29 crore in September 2025. These measures aim to strengthen the handloom sector's cost efficiency and international competitiveness.
