Government Initiates Nationwide HPV Vaccination Campaign Amid Rising Cervical Cancer Cases
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that as of February 17, 2026, 8.73 crore women have been screened for cervical cancer. In response to increasing cervical cancer cases, a national Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign has been launched, targeting 14-year-old girls at various government health facilities across the nation. The campaign, part of a broader effort to combat cervical cancer, aims to dramatically reduce future incidence rates. Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, highlighted these measures in a statement to the Rajya Sabha.
