Government Initiatives Boosting Textile Startups and Handloom Sector

The Ministry of Textiles is actively supporting the growth of technical textiles and new startups through the National Technical Textile Mission (NTTM) which launched in 2020 with a budget of Rs 1,480 crore. Its GREAT scheme provides up to Rs. 50 lakh each for approved startups, benefiting 24 startups to date. Additionally, as part of promoting handlooms and handicrafts, financial aid and marketing support are extended under various programs. The latest All India Handloom Census reports 26,73,891 handloom weavers and 8,48,621 allied workers nationwide, highlighting the sector's scale and prominence.
