Government Initiatives for Cold Storage Facilities in Agriculture
The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is implementing various schemes to provide financial assistance for establishing cold storage facilities for perishable horticultural produce across India. Key initiatives include the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), which offers subsidies for cold storage construction, and the Capital Investment Subsidy scheme by the National Horticulture Board. Additionally, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries supports integrated cold chain projects to reduce post-harvest losses. The government also promotes organic farming through the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) and Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER).
