Government Intensifies Efforts for Efficient Drug Disposal and Cultivation Destruction

The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced initiatives for the disposal of seized narcotics and the destruction of illicit opium cultivation in an effort to combat drug abuse. New guidelines enable authorities to conduct pre-trial disposals of narcotics through designated Drug Disposal Committees. Between 2020 and 2024, significant quantities of drugs have been destroyed along with large areas of illegal cannabis and opium cultivation. The Narcotics Control Bureau has also provided guidance materials for effective implementation of these measures.
