Government Launches PM E-DRIVE Scheme for EV Charging Infrastructure Development
The Ministry of Heavy Industries, India, has announced the launch of the PM E-DRIVE scheme aimed at developing extensive electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country. The scheme has a budget allocation of ₹10,900 crore, with ₹2,000 crore dedicated towards establishing public EV charging stations. Eligibility for participation in this scheme is extended to various government bodies, which are encouraged to set up EV chargers, battery swapping, and charging stations. Subsidies ranging from 70% to 100% for infrastructure and equipment are provided based on the location and control of the sites, enhancing public access and encouraging EV adoption.
